Watching my uncle hang my 9 month old dog from a tree because he kept eating the chickens eggs (i lived in a farm for a bit). Its like my dog knew he was going to get killed, his eyes said it all. Will never forgive my uncle for that. That fucked me up a good while, i was 9.

To those who are doing this finger-pointing at another generation: go fuck yourself.
Suddenly I'm seeing on our beloved Redditt a lot of bullshit about how old people are blocking marijuana legalization, gay marriage, action on climate change, and how they can't even use the Internet so rely on Fox TV.
This kind of alleged thinking is facile pap. The current younger generation does not hold a monopoly on righteousness and it certainly doesn't have a monopoly on the use of technology. The latter especially pisses me off. I've been online and bickering with idiots who disagree with me for the last twenty-five years, longer than many of you have drawn breath. I've been computer-literate since we all programmed in Pascal. Hell, I've been computer-literate since the Internet consisted of going to the window and screaming a string of ones and zeros at the neighbor. Well, no, but at least since FidoNet. All of my boomer friends over the last few decades display at least a minimal amount of computer literacy, and many know how to use it better then the twenty-somethings I know who think they're god's gift to TCP/IP.
As far as blaming the boomers for a lot of society's ills, let's keep in mind that as the baby-boomer bulge is finally pushing out all the other voting demographics, THAT'S when we're seeing things like creeping legalization of weed, recognition of gay marriage, and other liberal causes that are near and dear to the dirty hippies.
There are fuckheads in every generation, dear youngsters, and if you look about you, I'm sure you'll see them in yours. Keep an eye on them, because the greediest and most ruthless of them are probably the ones that will be in charge and killing people when you're in your fifties.
Hopefully by then, the generation that follows you will have the decency, intelligence, and good grace to put the blame where it belongs rather than smear an entire age group because it's too complicated to do otherwise.
Here ends the rant.
EDIT - Okay, I knew this would be a semi-shitstorm in the schizo-hivemind. To head off some of the shit, let me add the following.
Yeah, I did the same thing when I was young. My father was a racist authoritarian dullard, so by extrapolation everyone of his generation and older were the same. Plus I was born into the fifties, a period of stunning social conservatism, so everyone older was an idiot. Part of the maturing process is discovering that's not the case.
As has been pointed out below by (flips down to find the poster) khyberkitsune, the majority of support for marijuana legalization comes from the under-30s. True, and it was the same when I was under 30. But my point wasn't the opposite, it was that there's a large bulge in the population that traditionally has held more liberal and tolerant views than what came before them. This is reflected in recent changes in society that show changing social values. I should also mention that I live in Canada which has fairly non-conservative social values, and perhaps that's different where you are.
Everyone knows over-50s who are buttmunching fatheads, me included (I know them, I mean, not am one). But I know quite a few twenty-somethings who are politically ignorant, complete products of consumerism, and will only support social change issues that are shallow, faddish, and when it doesn't inconvenience them personally. Doesn't mean they're all like that. Same thing applies to my generation.
As Vonnegut says, I just got here myself. And we're all in this together. Blaming age groups, of all things, for the state we're in is counter-productive.

An old Italian man lived alone in New Jersey. He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden; but it was very difficult work as the ground was hard.
His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:
Dear Vincent,
I am feeling pretty sad, because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days.
Love, Papa A few days later he received this letter from his son:
Dear Pop, Don't dig up that garden. That's where the bodies are buried.
Love, Vinnie At 6 am the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left. That same day the old man received another letter from his son.
Dear Pop, Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances.

Back when three TV networks served all of America, people shared the same heroes, the same dreams and the same golden palomino named Trigger. But earlier this month Roy Rogers' faithful sidekick was Lot 38 at Christie's Auction House in Rockefeller Center, the chance of a lifetime for any buckaroo with a spare $200,000 or so. "I'd have to do another 200 root canals to afford Trigger," said Douglas King, a Manhattan dentist in a 10-gallon hat decorated with grouse feathers and a gaping rattlesnake head.

It's not as if Oliver Stone has been dazzling us with his sense of decorum and totally rational behavior all these years. The man who once signed a letter comparing Germany's treatment of Scientologists to its treatment of Jews? The world's leading JFK assassination conspiracy theorist? Frankly we could just stop at "the guy who based 'Scarface' on his own experiences with coke." (Seriously. Have you seen "Scarface"?) But this week, the critically acclaimed Oscar winner really jumped the crazy shark.

10:15pm MST Title says it all. I GeoIP'ed the ip address and it is somewhere in Denver which is an hour or two away from my house. Ideas? I've never wanted to hit the front page more in my entire life.
10:45pm MST Update 1: Keylogger installed.
11:10pm MST Update 2: Computer has been turned off, I hope he turns it back on. I wonder if the Wake-on-LAN feature is enabled?
12:15am MST Update 3: Señor PoopFace appears to have disabled the keylogger. We are having power outages and this might be the culprit but I am still incredibly suspicious.
1:07am MST Update 4: Señor PoopFace did not uninstall the logger.
1:27am MST Update 5: I have retrieved what appear to be SENORITA PoopFace's myspace credentials. Will report back shortly.
Question: What time do you think is guaranteed they will be asleep. I demand to know within a 95% confidence interval.
2:46am MST Update 6: I took over the computer only to find someone watching Lion King in iTunes at almost 3am. I was quick to black the screen but who knows what they saw of me clicking around. I was able to get the log file that never sent out. Must inspect and find it's secrets. Also stuck Prey on there so I can see when it is safe to take over the computer.
Whoever is using the computer loves internet Backgammon and sucks at Hearts.
3:31am MST Update 7: From what I can tell from the logger, their internet connection is terrible which would explain why the log data never came to my email. I'm all sleuthed out and I'm exhausted. Will post more exciting business tomorrow. Thanks a million everyone. Couldn't have done it without the hivemind!
12:17am (next day) MST update 8: waited for the computer to be inactive for a few hours and then went to work. Router login credentials were admin admin. Awesome. Found SSID and Router MAC. SSID appears to contain their house number, but not street name. I draw ever closer.
Big, stinky update3:24 pm (next day) MST update 9: Pipl.com gave an address corresponding with the name from myspace. Going to go cruise by the house and check for the SSID. Will report back soon!
disappointment update 4:45 pm (next day) update 10: Drove by Pipl.com address result. Super super sketchy neighborhood. The house was at the end of a dead end so it looked suspicious enough us driving through there. All the neighbors are out doing hoodrat stuff in street. We made 2 passes and didn't get a hit on the SSID and had to give up before we blew our cover. Called the police department to find out that there are not in detectives in the city that work on the weekends. I was instructed to sit on it until Monday. Dumb.
TL;DR I have obtained names and myspace credentials for the (possible) thieves.
TIL Everyone should install LogMeIn and Prey on all of their computers. There is a good possibility they will be responsible for having my computer returned.
important question Does anyone know how to search for a house(s) using only the house number and the city, not the street name. Reverse whitepages yielded nothing. answer used a few links below and searched every zip code in my city. No results so probably not an address.
